Our History

TMI Contractors was founded in October 1979 as a structural steel fabricator and erector and has become an industry leader in fabricated structural steel. Since then, TMI Contractors has expanded its areas of expertise to include a diverse variety of new services.

Overview
The Director of Quality develops implements and manages the quality assurance system for his/her specific region to ensure that product quality and safety is in conformance with customer specifications and Code requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with the Authorized Inspection Agency (AIA), local jurisdictions, and provide customer interface for quality related items. The primary responsibilities are listed below.


Primary Responsibilities (may be delegated):

  • Manage and maintain the Quality Assurance and Quality Control program, including our ASME/NBIC Code Stamp Certifications.
  • Coordinate Quality procedures with the Authorized Inspector and customer’s representatives and secure approval when required.
  • Supervise our team of quality managers and inspectors to assure timely inspections and documentation
  • Create, Track, and Review Quality KPI’s for continuous improvement
  • Facilitates necessary training sessions in order to implement new or modified Quality System procedures.
  • Assists in process and procedure revisions.
  • Prepares Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities in connection to the account support function of the business, or as assigned.
  • Works with the bid/estimating teams to assure compliance with code and customer required inspections and test understood for accurate bids to our customers.
  • Approve conformance of materials, parts, operations, and final products with respect to the applicable specifications, documents, and drawings
  • Review purchase requisitions (as applicable), quality system deviations and product nonconformance documentation for compliance
  • Review and approve in-house and sub-contractor qualifications and procedures
  • Ensure that all repairs and alterations to pressure-retaining items are made in accordance with the current NBIC and/or jurisdictional requirements


Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of all welding processes and their application, especially, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, SAW, and PAW.
  • Knowledge in the development of WPS, PQR, WPQ’s.
  • Knowledge of AISC Certifications
  • Familiar with codes and standards including ASME (Section I, B31.1, and B31.3, NQA-1 – Nuclear), API, ASTM, NACE, and NBIC.
  • Fabrication/Field erection experience in pressure and process piping, boiler repair/installation, Steel fab/field erection, and ASME/API vessel tank work
  • Knowledge of Civil and Concrete Inspection and Testing Requirements
  • Familiar with the application and limitation of NDT methods and techniques.
  • 10 plus years in the construction and fabrication industry with 5 or more of those years in a quality management role.


Education and Training: (Preferred not required with the right amount of experience)

  • BS or AS in engineering, engineering technology, or related field, preferably Welding or Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology (preferred not required).
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – Required
  • API Certifications are a plus
  • ASNT NDT Level I, II, or III is a plus.

Overview
Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques and operating various welding devices. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in the area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent.

 

High school diploma or GED preferred.

 

Successful candidates possess or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of welding/fitting. Works under moderate supervision. Typically requires 1-3 years of related experience or may have 0 years of experience plus an associate’s degree, or additional training, or certification.

 

The job environment can be dirty/ dusty. Will require lifting 50+ pounds on occasion.

Overview
Performs general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials. Assists a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed. High school diploma or GED preferred. Successful candidates possess a moderate understanding of general aspects of fabrication processes and will work under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.

 

Job environment can be dirty/dusty. Will require lifting 50+ pounds on occasion.
